The globalization of communication science: A look at challenges and opportunities from an international perspective<\/h4>\n

<\/p>\n

On 13 March 2024, Dr Hanan Badr<\/a> was a speaker at the DGPuK<\/a> pre-conference in Erfurt. The conference, entitled “Internationalising German Communication Studies: Learning from the World”, focused on the challenges of international and transnational approaches in academic research and teaching in Germany. To encourage greater internationalisation in academic practice, representatives from various communication studies communities entered into a dialogue. The aim is to identify opportunities to promote the cosmopolitanisation of study programmes, university structures and research focuses at German communication science institutions.<\/p>\n

Dr Hanan Badr<\/a> contributed her extensive knowledge of Egypt and the Arab world to her presentation. With her many years of expertise in the field of Arabic media and communication studies and the de-westernisation of communication studies, she used her experience to reflect on the state of German-language communication studies.<\/p>\n
