<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Overcoming the Divides? Towards Global Inclusivity in Communication Studies in Times of Uncertainty</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Public Spheres and Inequalities and Transcultural Communication Divisions at the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Salzburg are hosting the Annual Conference of the DGPuK International and Intercultural Communication Division. The conference is in cooperation with the DFG-Network Cosmopolitan Communication Studies  (DFG_Netzwerk Kosmopolitische Kommunikationswissenschaft).</span></p>

<p><b>The regular participation fee is 60 euros and  30 euros for students.</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Over two days, more than 50 researchers and renowned media scholars come to Salzburg to discuss how we can advance communication studies to contribute to overcoming the divides by forging global inclusive ways towards critical and informed scholarship.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A prelude to the conference is an exclusive workshop for PhD students that offers a space for sharing work-in-progress with mentors in the international and intercultural division and members of the DFG-Network Cosmopolitan Communication Studies.</span></p>

<p>The new book Arab Berlin, edited by <a href="https://www.kowi-salzburg.at/en/team/univ-prof-dr-hanan-badr/">Prof. Dr. Hanan Badr</a> and Dr. Nahed Samour is newly published by transcript Verlag. The anthology deals with the diversity of the Arab community in Berlin. Scientific articles, essays, interviews and photo contributions illuminate the diversity in Arab Berlin across 25 chapters. The contributions deal from a critical point of view with various perspectives of the Arab diaspora in the areas of media, culture, art, as well as politics and law. The book brings together authors inside and outside Berlin so that a global dialogue takes place.</p>

<p>Tobias Heidenreich is a research associate in the Global Governance Department at the Berlin Science Center for Social Research. His research focuses on political communication, computational methods, social media and migration.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ricarda Drüeke about the protest organization “Grandmas against the Right”<span id="more-17131"></span>Ricarda Drüeke’s contribution “’I’m at 100’: Protesting the Right-Wing Government in Austria” in the book series “Palgrave Studies in Communication for Social Change” discusses the Austrian group “Grandmas against the Right”. In her chapter she researches different approaches to media activism of “Grandmas against the Right”. Within her research Ricarda Drüeke focuses on the following questions: What functions are played by different kinds of media in this protest group? Which publics are formed through these articulations of protest? How does the social negotiation process develop?</p>
