Charlotte Spencer-Smith is a PhD candidate in the Center for Information and Communication Technologies & Society (ICT&S) at the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Salzburg. Previously, she was a Senior Scientist without a PhD at the Institute for Comparative Media and Communication Studies (CMC) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt, where she worked on the project “The Automation of the Social: Algorithmic Selection in Social Online Networks” in collaboration with the Institute for Technology Assessment of the ÖAW.
