Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication (AFSMC)-Public Communication of Science and Technology(PCST) 2026 Symposium

The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Salzburg proudly participated earlier this month in the Arab Forum of Science Media and Communication (AFSMC) Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) Symposium 2026 in the United Arab Emirates.

Prof. Dr. Hanan Badr and Senior Scientist Thawab Hilal from the Division Public Spheres and Inequalities chaired and moderated the panel “Communicating Climate Change in the Arab Region” and presented their research projext on youth-led climate podcasts in Jordan.

This collaboration brings together KoWi with strategic partners @AGYA (Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities), the @University of Sharjah’s College of Communication, and @SciComm X to advance science communication teaching, research, and practice in the Arab region.

The partnership deepens the Erasmus+ agreement between the University of Salzburg and the University of Sharjah.

Together, these partnerships translate scholarly engagement into transcultural dialogue to shape the future of science communication across academic and cultural contexts.
