Since December 1, 2021, Sergio Sparviero has been an Associate Professor at the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Salzburg.

His research and teaching focuses on media economics, media management, and media and innovation, and his recent publications cover the evolution of the news landscape, nonprofit media, and the film and music industries.

In addition, he is the coordinator of the Erasmus+ Joint Master’s Programme “ Digital Communication Leadership” (DCLead), and a member of ECREA and IAMCR. Research Interests
