Aurora Alliegro is a doctoral candidate at the University of Salzburg as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network RePIM. In her research, she focuses on sustainability requirements for public interest media.
She completed an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in Journalism, Media & Globalisation at Aarhus University and LMU Munich (2025). In her Master’s thesis, she developed a competency model to promote media and AI literacy in European schools (primary and secondary education) based on expert interviews from various disciplines. Previously, she completed a Bachelor’s degree with honors in History at the University of Naples Federico II, including an exchange semester at the University of Manchester.
Her research on artificial intelligence and journalism was presented in 2025 at the ICA and DGPuK conferences, including her contribution “Building Better Media Landscapes & Societies through AI Journalism.” In addition to her academic work, she gained experience in innovation and digital transformation at the NATO NCI Academy. Furthermore, she has worked in strategic communications, editing, and journalism for Italian and international media organizations.
